Dr. Joseph Barbar knew long before dental school that he wanted to provide dental care to the families of his home community in Trumbull, Connecticut. He builds a rapport with his patients and is genuinely interested in what is going on in their lives. Dr. Barbar is experienced in treating pediatric, geriatric, medically compromised, and special needs patients.
Dr. Barbar attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, where he majored in Biochemistry, minored in Biology and graduated cum laude. He continued his education at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, CT, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Dr. Barbar completed his general practice residency at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY.
Dr. Barbar’s areas of dental proficiency include general and restorative dentistry, root canal therapy, extractions, crowns, bridges and dentures. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the New York Dental Association, the Suffolk County Dental Society and the Connecticut State Dental Association.
Dr. Barbar has volunteered his time and skills to several community outreach programs. He provided much need dental care to the underserved with Mission of Mercy. He educated children on proper dental hygiene at the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford. Dr. Barbar coached Special Olympics of West Hartford basketball athletes in best dental practices to ready the team for a state tournament and he performed oral screenings and treatment for residents of the South Park Inn Homeless Shelter.
When he is not in the office treating patients, Dr. Barbar enjoys spending quality time with his family, playing golf, softball and basketball and spending time at the beach. When football season rolls around, you can find Dr. Barbar at the New York Jets games; he’s a season ticket holder.
